Fire Breaks Out at Mission Hospital in Surat, 20 Patients Evacuated on Stretchers

Ahmedabad: A concerning rise in fire incidents has been observed across Gujarat in recent times. Panic erupted after a fire broke out at Mission Hospital located in Surat’s Athwa Lines area. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the ground floor of the hospital.
Upon receiving the alert, fire brigade teams rushed to the scene and initiated efforts to control the blaze. With the help of fire personnel and local citizens, around 20 patients undergoing treatment at the hospital were safely evacuated on stretchers. Over 10 fire engines and more than 10 firefighters worked continuously to douse the flames.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage. However, initial reports suggest it may have been triggered by a short circuit or another technical malfunction. The fire department and police have launched an investigation, and the definitive cause will be confirmed only after a detailed probe.
Fire Officer Krishna Modhe from Surat Fire Brigade stated that the fire appeared to have originated near the server room and X-ray room on the ground floor of the hospital. He also mentioned that authorities will now investigate whether the hospital was adequately equipped with fire safety measures.
