CCTV Captures Hit-and-Run: Elderly Man Killed by Bike on Way to Temple in Ahmedabad

A hit-and-run incident has come to light in Ahmedabad’s Dariyapur area. An elderly man heading to a temple was struck by an unidentified motorcyclist in the accident. The impact threw the victim onto the road. He was subsequently rushed for medical treatment, where he succumbed to severe injuries. L Division Traffic Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
Motorcyclist Flees After Impact
Details of the incident reveal that 55-year-old Ashokbhai Thakor, a resident of Madhupura, visited the Mataji temple in Dariyapur every morning for darshan. Following his routine, Ashokbhai was heading to the temple around 4:45 AM on December 6. While crossing near Dariyapur Darwaja Circle as usual, he stood aside for 30 seconds due to vehicular traffic before attempting to cross the road. At that moment, a speeding motorcyclist coming from Prem Darwaja struck him with force. The powerful impact threw Ashokbhai onto the road, and the motorcyclist fled the scene.
Police Begin Investigation Based on CCTV
Being early morning, no one initially noticed the incident. Later, people from the surrounding area gathered at the spot. Ashokbhai had lost consciousness due to injuries to his face and head. He was transported to the hospital for treatment. Ashokbhai died during treatment at Civil Hospital. CCTV footage of the accident has also surfaced. L Division Traffic Police have registered a case against the unidentified motorcyclist and initiated an investigation.

Deceased’s Wife Passed Away Two Years Ago, Lived with Son
Ashokbhai’s family consists of only one son. His wife Subhadrabehn had died due to illness two years earlier. The deceased and his 20-year-old son Chirag had recently moved from Sabarmati to Madhupura. The deceased would daily visit different temples near his home in the morning to feed birds. On the fateful day, he was heading for darshan when an unidentified motorcyclist struck him, resulting in his death.
