Ahmedabad: In anticipation of massive crowds gathering for New Year festivities, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G.S. Malik has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory. The notification outlines strict vehicular restrictions and diversions on key city arteries, effective from the evening of December 31 through the early hours of January 1.
No-Vehicle Zone on C.G. Road
The stretch of C.G. Road from Stadium Circle to Panchvati will remain closed to all vehicular traffic between 6:00 PM on December 31 and 3:00 AM on January 1. Authorities have also imposed a complete ban on parking on both sides of this road. Movement of vehicles will be strictly prohibited on this route after 8:00 PM.
Alternate Routes:
Commuters are advised to use the route via Mithakhali Circle, Girish Cold Drinks, St. Xavier’s College Road, or the stretch connecting Navrangpura Bus Stand to Commerce Six Roads.
Restrictions on Sindhu Bhavan Road (SBR)
Traffic movement will be blocked on Sindhu Bhavan Road from Jajarman Cross Road to Taj Skyline Cross Road in both directions. This restriction will be enforced from 8:00 PM on December 31 until 3:00 AM on January 1.
Alternate Routes:
Traffic will be diverted from Jajarman crossroads via Umiya Traders towards Taj Skyline, and from Ambli Overbridge towards Shilaj Circle.
SG Highway and Heavy Vehicle Regulations
The notification also prohibits the entry of medium and heavy goods vehicles across the entire city during this period. On S.G. Highway, only passenger vehicles will be permitted entry. All other categories of vehicles are directed to utilize the S.P. Ring Road.
