Ahmedabad Airport Customs Seize 61 World’s Most Expensive Designer Pens Worth ₹30 Lakh from Japan Passenger

Ahmedabad: The Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, busted a significant smuggling attempt on April 26, 2026, seizing 61 high-end designer ink pens from a passenger who had arrived from Japan.

The traveller made no declaration at customs and attempted to walk through without paying duty on the consignment. A case has been registered under the Customs Act, 1962, and the passenger is currently being questioned.

The exact valuation of the seized pens is still under assessment, though a preliminary estimate puts their combined worth at approximately ₹30 lakh. The lot includes some of the world’s most expensive and limited-edition writing instruments.
