74th All India Police Hockey Championship To Be Held In Rajkot From 4 To 14 December 2025

Rajkot : The 74th All India Police Hockey Championship — considered one of the most prestigious sports events in the country—will be held in Rajkot, Gujarat, from 4th December to 14th December 2025. The event is being organized by the Gujarat Police.

A total of 32 teams from various State Police Forces, Central Armed Police Forces, and other security agencies across India will participate in this national-level hockey championship. These include 24 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams. For the players serving in India’s security forces, this tournament provides an important platform to showcase their talent.

Two major venues in Rajkot have been selected for the competition:

  1. Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium – An international-standard ground
    equipped with modern facilities.
  2. Saurashtra University Hockey Ground – A venue that has previously hosted
    several state-level championships.

Both these grounds have been equipped with world-class facilities and the necessary arrangements for player training. Special rest rooms, training zones, and medical facilities have also been ensured for all participating players.

The opening ceremony on 4th December 2025 will be graced by the Chief Guest, Director General of Police (D.G.P.) of Gujarat, Shri Vikas Sahay, along with senior officers and players from across the country. A rehearsal for the championship will be held on 3rd December 2025.The closing ceremony is scheduled for 14th December 2025, during which the winning and runner-up teams will be awarded trophies and prizes.

The ceremony will also feature cultural programs and events showcasing Gujarat’s traditions. The event will be held in the special presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat. The opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and the D.G.P. Sir’s dinner will be organized at the Police Headquarters Ground, Rajkot City.

The primary objective of this entire event is to strengthen physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and sports culture within India’s security forces. Another important aspect of this event is to enhance unity and sportsmanship among various Police and Paramilitary Forces of India. Such tournaments provide players with opportunities at national and international levels, ensuring that the talent within the security forces receives rightful recognition.

Hosting this championship is considered a matter of great pride for the city of Rajkot. The city has previously hosted several national and international sporting events, establishing itself as a reliable hub for sports. Local sports enthusiasts and hockey fans are eagerly looking forward to the championship, and a large turnout of spectators is expected. Rajkot City Police has ensured comprehensive arrangements for security, traffic management, stadium safety, medical support, and accommodation facilities for all participating players.

At present, a total of 24 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams from the police forces of 18 states of India, along with various paramilitary forces, have registered for this hockey championship. Teams from different states and forces have already arrived in Rajkot to participate. Rajkot City Police has appointed liaison officers for all the visiting teams. These officers will provide necessary guidance and support based on the requirements of each team.
