Bollywood couple Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar made a stylish statement at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony on September 22, 2026, as they received top honours for the political thriller Article 370. Held for the first time in Gujarat at Ekta Nagar near the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, the event saw President Droupadi Murmu present the awards.
Yami Gautam won the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her powerful portrayal of intelligence officer Zooni Haksar her first National Film Award. Husband and producer Aditya Dhar accepted the Best Feature Film award for the same movie. The film also secured Best Music Direction for composer Shashwat Sachdev, making it one of the night’s major winners.
The couple turned heads by twinning in elegant black ensembles. Yami looked graceful in a black saree featuring a golden zari border and subtle woven motifs, draped in a classic free-pallu style with a bindi completing the look. Aditya complemented her perfectly in a sharp black bandhgala suit. Their coordinated appearance drew widespread admiration.
Videos from the ceremony showed an emotional Aditya Dhar getting teary-eyed and clapping proudly as Yami walked on stage to receive her award from the President. Yami later described the honour as “the biggest validation an artist can receive” and “the highest honour presented by your country,” adding that she was still soaking it all in. She has previously called it a moment she will cherish for life, dedicated to every dreamer who refuses to give up.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Aditya Dhar among others, Article 370 (released in 2024) centres on the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The couple’s joint success and coordinated black looks made the evening memorable both for cinema and style.
