Udta Teer Release Date Shifted Again: Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan Film Moves To October 23

Mumbai: Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s upcoming spy comedy Udta Teer will no longer arrive in cinemas on October 9. The makers have pushed the film’s theatrical release by two weeks, with the new release date set for October 23, 2026.

The latest change comes as the October release calendar gets increasingly crowded. The film’s team has indicated that the decision was made to secure a less congested theatrical window and give the movie better access to screens. The makers have also highlighted the response to the trailer and promotional campaign while announcing the new release schedule.

The postponement is the film’s second release date change. Udta Teer was initially scheduled to reach theatres on September 11 before being moved to October 9. It will now make its theatrical debut on October 23.

The reshuffle comes shortly after Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam: The Conclusion opened in theatres on October 2, adding to competition in an already busy October theatrical calendar. Several other releases are also positioned around the month, making the availability of screens an important consideration for upcoming films.

Directed by Akash A Kaushik, Udta Teer marks his feature-film directorial debut. The story follows Ayushmann Khurrana’s character, Bilal, a Pakistani intelligence operative who suffers memory loss after an explosion. He subsequently believes himself to be an Indian counter-terrorism officer, setting up the film’s central combination of espionage, mistaken identity and comedy.

Sara Ali Khan plays an Indian counter terrorism officer in the film. The supporting cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Sandeep Anand, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Smita Tambe.

Khurrana has described the project as a return to original storytelling, with the film combining patriotic elements with comedy and espionage. The unusual premise is expected to form the central attraction of the movie.

The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, with Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment backing the project.

With the latest schedule change, Udta Teer is now officially set to open in theatres on October 23, 2026.
