The Odyssey Box Office Day 1: Christopher Nolan’s Epic Rakes In Rs 17.40 Crore Net In India

Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited epic The Odyssey has finally hit Indian screens, and the film has opened to strong numbers at the box office. Headlined by Matt Damon, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast featuring Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal.

The Odyssey Box Office Collection Day 1

As per data from Sacnilk, The Odyssey has raked in an estimated Rs 17.40 crore net on its opening day across all languages in India. The film’s gross collection stood at Rs 20.76 crore, while the net domestic figure came in at Rs 17.40 crore. The film had a wide theatrical release, playing across 8,413 shows nationwide, and recorded an overall occupancy of 48.7 per cent on day one.

Language-wise, the original English version led the collections by a significant margin, contributing an estimated Rs 13.75 crore net. The Hindi dubbed version brought in close to Rs 1.90 crore, while the Telugu version added nearly Rs 1.10 crore. The Tamil version rounded off the numbers with an estimated Rs 65 lakh.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is a cinematic adaptation of Homer’s classic Greek epic. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, Tom Holland as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, and Robert Pattinson as Antinous. Rounding out the ensemble are Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya, Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, John Leguizamo and Mia Goth.

The narrative follows Odysseus as he undertakes a treacherous decade-long voyage home to Ithaca in the aftermath of the Trojan War, battling mythical creatures, powerful adversaries and a series of daunting trials along the way.
