Thalapathy Vijay’s final film before politics, Jana Nayagan, has delivered more than just emotional farewells and box-office fireworks. A blink-and-miss background detail has ignited an online clash between BTS and ENHYPEN fans.
In a scene set in Viji’s (Mamitha Baiju) room, Vijay’s character Vetri speaks with her after a marriage-related twist. Later, Pooja Hegde’s Kayal offers comfort. Eagle-eyed viewers quickly paused and zoomed in on the posters decorating the walls. Many claimed they spotted BTS members, with some insisting a Jungkook poster and even the full OT7 group were visible. Others argued the posters belonged to ENHYPEN, while a few said both groups—and possibly BLACKPINK—appear.
Social media flooded with comments. One fan wrote, “Being both Thalapathy and BTS fan, seeing them in the same frame is everything to me.” Another countered, “That’s ENHYPEN not BTS.” Debates continued over partial lettering, member faces, and whether the art direction deliberately created a realistic young K-pop fan’s space.
The filmmakers have not commented. Directed by H. Vinoth, the political action drama also stars Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj and others. It opened to a strong ₹42.70 crore India net on Day 1 (July 23) and continued solid collections.
What began as a subtle production touch has become one of the film’s most talked-about moments, proving even background posters can unite and divide fans across continents.
