Manoj Muntashir, who wrote the dialogue for Adipurush, has now referred to the Om Raut film as the “biggest mistake” of his life, three years after it debuted in theaters. Recalling the criticism the Prabhas and Kriti Sanon film received, Muntashi acknowledged in a recent interview that he is “ashamed” of it.
“I was a little contemptuous at first. It took me two days to comprehend. I made the biggest mistake of my life with Adipurush, and it was much worse to defend that movie. Manoj told Times Now, “I’m really ashamed of everything that happened around the movie, and I ask for this country’s forgiveness.”
The author and songwriter went on to say that he is disappointed that he did not do Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman justice. Additionally, he claimed that a number of his statements, including those regarding Lord Hanuman, were taken out of context. “Now, when I look back, I am ashamed that I wrote them,” he continued. I have no idea what was going through my mind when I penned those.
The Hindu epic Ramayana served as the inspiration for Adipurush, which was directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series and Retrophiles. Prabhas played Raghava (Lord Rama), Kriti Sanon played Janaki (Sita), Saif Ali Khan played Lankesh (Ravana), Sunny Singh played Shesh (Lakshmana), and Devdatta Nage played Bajrang (Hanuman).
Adipurush was one of the most costly Indian movies ever made, with an estimated budget of almost ₹600 crore. movie was widely criticized for its visual effects, narrative, characterization, and contemporary retelling of the Ramayana, even though movie generated a lot of pre-release excitement and opened to strong box office numbers on June 16, 2023. After the movie’s premiere, the filmmakers changed portions of the dialogue because it caused controversy. Despite earning over ₹390 crore globally, the movie was eventually seen as a commercial disaster because of its high production costs and extremely unfavorable reviews.
