Delhi High Court Freezes Sunjay Kapur’s Assets, Restrains Priya Kapur in Rs 30,000 Crore Will Dispute

The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to actor Karisma Kapoor’s two children, Samaira and Kiaan, in their inheritance battle over the estate of their late father, Sunjay Kapur.
Sunjay Kapur passed away in June 2025, leaving behind an estate valued at approximately Rs 30,000 crore. Following his death, his children and mother, Rani Kapur, moved the court alleging that his widow, Priya Sachdev Kapur, had forged his will.
On Thursday, Justice Jyoti Singh of the Delhi High Court allowed an interim injunction plea filed by Samaira and Kiaan, restraining Priya Kapur from alienating, transferring, or creating any third-party rights over Sunjay’s assets until the matter is decided. The court also froze Sunjay Kapur’s assets, stopped the operation of his foreign bank accounts, and halted transactions involving his cryptocurrency holdings.
Justice Singh noted that Karisma Kapoor and Rani Kapur had raised credible questions over the validity and authenticity of the will purportedly left by Sunjay, and that the onus now lay on Priya to address those concerns. “Assets should not be dissipated. The assets need to be preserved,” the court said, adding that since the will is under dispute and the trial will take time, the estate must remain untouched in the interim.
The court also restricted withdrawals from three bank accounts held across two Indian banks, permitting exceptions only to the extent of meeting liabilities toward the children as established under the divorce decree between Sunjay and Karisma.

According to a report by Bar and Bench, the court said the children had made out a prima facie case warranting the injunction. Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, appearing for Priya Kapur, denied allegations of any changes to the assets and asserted that full disclosures had been made.
