South Korean Actor Lee Sang-Bo, Known for ‘The Elegant Empire,’ Found Dead at 45

South Korean actor Lee Sang-bo, who appeared in dramas including Private Lives, The Elegant Empire, and Rugal, was found dead at his home on Friday. He was 45. A family member discovered the body at around 12:40 pm at his residence in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, according to the Pyeongtaek Police Station. Police said they have found no criminal suspects and are investigating the circumstances of his death.
His agency, Korea Management Group (KMG), confirmed the news. A representative told Maeil Business Newspaper’s Star Today on the 27th: “We saw the news and are currently trying to understand the situation.” Funeral arrangements have been set at Room 3 of Jungang Funeral Home in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. The service is scheduled for 10:30 am on March 29.
In September 2022, Lee faced drug-use allegations, which he attributed to prescription medication he was taking for depression. He was later cleared of all charges following a police investigation. In a note posted to his social media, he wrote: “Even long-term medication couldn’t calm my mind, so I had a drink, which became the trigger for an unfortunate incident. I will overcome this step by step with the encouragement and support from countless strangers.”

Following news of his passing, condolences poured in across social media. The Instagram page Koreanophiles shared the news, prompting users to pay tribute. Comments ranged from “Rest in peace” to “Our deepest condolences to the family.”
