Bollywood Star Shilpa Shetty Faces Intense 4.5-Hour Grill Over Massive Rs 60 Crore Scam Allegations

Mumbai – Prominent Bollywood actress and businesswoman Shilpa Shetty underwent more than four hours of questioning by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with an alleged Rs 60 crore fraud, as investigations intensify against her and her husband, Raj Kundra.
According to a senior EOW official, Shetty’s interrogation session, which lasted approximately 4.5 hours, focused on her recorded statement regarding suspicious financial activities. Officers from the EOW conducted the session at Shetty’s residence, where she detailed transactions linked to her advertising firm’s bank account. She also submitted a batch of documents to investigators, who are now scrutinizing them for authenticity and relevance.
The probe stems from accusations leveled by businessman Deepak Kothari, who claims that between 2015 and 2023, Shetty and Kundra defrauded him of over Rs 60 crore under the pretext of business expansion. Kothari alleges the funds were diverted for personal luxuries rather than legitimate investments.
This development follows a similar session with Kundra last month. In September, the EOW summoned him for questioning in the same case, recording his statement amid ongoing inquiries. At the time, Mumbai Police issued a public update confirming the summons and noting that Kundra’s further appearance was scheduled for the subsequent week to address unresolved aspects.

During Kundra’s earlier five-hour interrogation, he reportedly disclosed that a segment of the disputed amount had been disbursed as professional fees to actresses Bipasha Basu and Neha Dhupia. However, he offered limited responses on key details, leading investigators to plan additional rounds of questioning. Sources indicate that EOW sleuths have uncovered direct transfers from the company’s ledgers to personal accounts belonging to four actresses, including Shetty, Basu, and Dhupia. Traces of funds have also surfaced in dealings with Balaji Entertainment.
The case continues to unfold, with authorities emphasizing a thorough examination of all financial trails to determine the full scope of the alleged conspiracy. No charges have been filed as yet, and both Shetty and Kundra have not issued public statements on the matter.
