Mumbai: The producer of the upcoming film ‘Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy’, which is based on the long-running blackbuck poaching case involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has alleged receiving severe death threats following a legal notice sent by the actor’s team.
Amit Jani, the film’s producer, publicly tore up the legal notice in a video and shared it online. He claimed that within 36 hours of the notice being issued, he received over 1,000 threatening messages from Khan’s fans. According to Jani, the messages included direct threats to “cut his head off” if he visited Mumbai.
In the video, Jani stated, “People keep asking me what response should be given to the notice from Salman Khan… For the past 36 hours, all his fans from Dharavi to Jogeshwari have sent 1,000 messages, including death threats, saying they’ll cut my head off if I come to Mumbai.”
He further alleged that the threats extended to warnings involving his family and referenced elements linked to the D company, suggesting involvement from certain fan groups and underworld connections. Jani declared that the public tearing of the notice was his response to the legal communication.

The film ‘Kala Hiran’ gained significant attention after its poster was released last month. It is described as a blend of courtroom drama and crime thriller, focusing on the blackbuck poaching case involving Salman Khan. The project also reportedly portrays the rivalry between Khan and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Salman Khan’s legal team issued the notice shortly after the film’s announcement, demanding that the makers halt production and promotion. The notice reportedly argues that the film infringes on Khan’s personal rights, as the blackbuck poaching case is still pending in the Rajasthan High Court.
This development marks the latest controversy surrounding the biopic-style project, highlighting the tensions between creative freedom in cinema and the personal and legal sensitivities of public figures involved in ongoing court matters.
The Times of India reported that Jani has now vowed to proceed despite the threats, framing his actions as a stand against external pressure. The situation remains tense as the producer continues to highlight the backlash he has faced from sections of Khan’s fan base.
