‘The One And Only’: Priyanka Chopra Remembers Sridevi With First Look Of Biography Empress

Priyanka Chopra Jonas paid a heartfelt tribute to the late screen icon Sridevi on her birth anniversary by unveiling the first look of the upcoming definitive biography titled Empress: The Definitive Biography of Sridevi.

Taking to social media, Priyanka shared the book’s cover and wrote, “The one and only. You are so missed. Happy heavenly birthday Sridevi. Empress…coming soon. The emotional post quickly resonated with fans and industry colleagues, with Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor also resharing the tribute.

Authored by writer and columnist Dhiraj U. Kumarr and published by Westland Books, Empress aims to chronicle the extraordinary life and career of one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated stars. The cover features a special endorsement from Amitabh Bachchan, who describes Sridevi as “the epitome of unmitigated talent.”

Sridevi, widely regarded as India’s first female superstar, began her journey as a child artiste at the age of four in the 1967 Tamil film Kandhan Karunai. She went on to dominate Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu cinema for decades with memorable performances in films like Mr. India, Chandni, Lamhe, and English Vinglish. Her versatility, grace, and unmatched screen presence left an indelible mark across generations.

The biography promises to explore both the larger-than-life phenomenon Sridevi became on screen and the person behind the stardom. It traces her remarkable rise across multiple film industries and her lasting influence on performers who followed.

Sridevi passed away in February 2018 in Dubai. Nearly eight years later, the announcement of Empress on her birth anniversary serves as a fitting reminder of her enduring legacy. Fans and admirers now eagerly await the full story of the woman who redefined stardom for women in Indian cinema.
