Mumbai: Nearly a decade after their explosive fallout first grabbed headlines, Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan are once again at the centre of a fresh controversy. This time, it was a viral social media trend that reopened old wounds.
The latest exchange began after author Freddy Birdy shared a post saying, “We Owe Hrithik Roshan an Apology,” a sentiment that quickly gained traction online. Responding to the buzz, Hrithik urged people not to take sides without knowing all the facts. He said people shouldn’t support one person simply because they dislike another and stressed the importance of waiting for the truth instead of reacting to social media narratives.
Kangana wasn’t pleased.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the actor and BJP MP shared a screenshot of a report on Hrithik’s remarks and accused him of reviving a controversy that should have been left behind. She said she was happy that he had found love with actor singer Saba Azad but questioned why he continued to make comments linked to their past.
In a sharp swipe, Kangana wrote that Hrithik was “embarrassing” his partner by repeatedly referring to the issue. She also asked him to discourage those who allegedly troll her in his name instead of making remarks that reignite public debate. Ending her note, she urged him to “stop adding fuel to the fire.”
The latest war of words has once again brought attention to one of Bollywood’s most talked about disputes.
The controversy dates back to 2016, when Kangana referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex” during an interview. Hrithik denied ever being in a relationship with her, triggering a bitter public feud. What followed were legal notices, allegations and counter allegations, along with an investigation into emails allegedly exchanged between the two.
Years later, the Mumbai Police filed a closure report after finding insufficient evidence to establish criminal wrongdoing, effectively bringing the legal proceedings to an end. However, the controversy has continued to resurface whenever either actor makes remarks that fans interpret as indirect references to the other.
The recent “We Owe Hrithik Roshan an Apology” trend has once again divided social media, with some users supporting Hrithik’s measured response while others backing Kangana’s criticism.
