Thalapathy Vijay’s final film as an actor, Jana Nayagan (released in Hindi as Jan Neta), has made a solid start at the box office following its theatrical release on July 23, 2026. Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, the film marks the superstar’s last on-screen appearance before he fully shifts focus to politics.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the movie has collected ₹171.84 crore worldwide in just three days. The breakdown shows an India net of ₹92.35 crore and an India gross of ₹108.34 crore, while overseas markets contributed ₹63.50 crore.
On its opening day (Thursday), Jana Nayagan earned ₹42.70 crore net in India. The second day saw a sharp 50% drop with ₹21.15 crore net, typical for a working Friday. However, the film recovered on Saturday, collecting ₹28.50 crore net, registering nearly 35% growth. Tamil Nadu remained the strongest territory, contributing the bulk of the domestic collections, followed by Karnataka and Kerala.

Despite mixed-to-negative reviews and reports of online leaks before release, Vijay’s massive star power ensured a respectable opening. The film crossed the ₹100 crore worldwide mark within two days and is currently tracking to cross the ₹200 crore global milestone by the end of its opening weekend.
Industry observers note that while the numbers are lower than Vijay’s previous blockbusters like Leo and The Greatest of All Time, the performance is still noteworthy given the circumstances surrounding the release. With strong advance bookings and continued fan support, Jana Nayagan is expected to hold well over the coming days as audiences bid farewell to one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars.
