Two decades after it first aired, Hannah Montana is getting a celebratory send-off with the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special, set to premiere on March 24 on Disney+.
Disney announced the special on social media, sharing a teaser that shows a car parked at Stage 9 studio the original filming location bearing the license plate “HM20.” The caption read, “Going back to where it all began. The Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premieres March 24 on Disney+. #MileysMemories.”
Miley Cyrus, who rose to fame through the show, shared her thoughts in a statement. “Hannah Montana will always be a part of who I am. What started as a TV show became a shared experience that shaped my life and the lives of so many fans, and I’ll always be thankful for that connection,” she said. She added, per The Hollywood Reporter, “The fact that it still means so much to people all these years later is something I’m very proud of. This Hannahversary is my way of celebrating and thanking the fans who’ve stood by me for 20 years.”
Created by Michael Poryes, Rich Correll, and Barry O’Brien, Hannah Montana aired on Disney Channel for four seasons from 2006 to 2011. The series followed Miley Stewart, a teenage girl living a double life as pop star Hannah Montana an alter ego she maintained to preserve her anonymity and live a normal teenage life.

Beyond Cyrus, the show featured Emily Osment as Lilly Truscott, Mitchel Musso as Oliver Oken, and Jason Earles as her older brother Jackson Stewart. Guest appearances across the series included Vicki Lawrence, Jesse McCartney, and the Jonas Brothers.
Produced by It’s a Laugh Productions in association with Poryes’s production company, the show originally premiered on March 24, 2006. Its success extended beyond television a concert film, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, was released in 2008, followed by the feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009.
