‘Deeply Disheartened’: Kanye West’s India Debut Cancelled — What Security Directive Forced Organisers to Pull the Plug on the New Delhi Show?

Rapper and music producer Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will not be performing in India on May 23. Organisers called off the New Delhi concert on Friday, citing security advisories and official directives in the wake of a high-alert situation in the capital.
The show at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium had already been postponed once. Originally scheduled for March 29, it was pushed to May 23 due to what organisers described at the time as “prevailing geopolitical situations.” That rescheduled date has now been cancelled as well.
What the Organisers Said
In a statement posted on Instagram, the organisers wrote: “We are deeply disheartened to announce that Ye Live in India, scheduled for 23rd May 2026 in New Delhi, has been officially postponed following security advisories and directives issued by the officials in light of the high-alert situation in the capital.”
They added: “After months of planning and preparation for what was set to become one of the largest live productions ever attempted in India, the safety and well-being of attendees and the citizens of India remains the highest priority. We fully respect and are cooperating with the guidance issued by the officials during this sensitive time.”
Refunds and Rescheduling
All ticket holders who purchased through the District ticketing platform will receive full refunds, the organisers confirmed. They also said they are in talks with Ye’s team to secure a new date and venue, with updates to follow through official channels.

The concert was organised by White Fox, Wizcraft and Plush Entertainment, and formed part of Ye’s ongoing global tour. At 48, the artist was set to make his debut before an Indian stadium audience. His live productions are known for large-format staging, immersive sound design and expansive visual elements.
