Actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd have all been summoned by a Chandigarh district court in relation to a cheating case involving a Being Human jewellery store in Manimajra, Chandigarh. All of the accused have been ordered by the court to show up on October 5 and submit their responses to the accusations.
Arun Gupta, a businessman from Chandigarh, filed the lawsuit, claiming that he was convinced to invest in the store by false promises of promising business opportunities. He said that as a result, he lost several crores.
The accusation claims that after signing a contract with Style and Content jewels Pvt Ltd, the business authorized to sell Being Human jewels, Gupta invested close to Rs 3 crore. He asserted that he met all contractual requirements and that the store setup cost about Rs 1 crore.
Gupta claimed that despite these assurances, the business did not deliver the promised business support once the showroom opened, leading to significant financial losses.
He added that the store that supplied Being Human jewelry had been closed since February 2020, which had disrupted inventory and negatively impacted the company. Six people connected to the business allegedly misrepresented the business prospect and persuaded him to make the transaction, according to the complaint.
Salman Khan was not directly involved in the 2018 deal with the Chandigarh businessman, according to the company, which has previously refuted the accusations. According to the statement, Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd operated the jewellery business independently under a brand licencing agreement.
Additionally, the company stated that Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd was granted a license by the Salman Khan Foundation to use the Being Human brand in 2015, and that the company was exclusively responsible for running, promoting, and selling the jewellery business.
Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the directors of Style and Content Jewellery Pvt Ltd are set to appear before the Chandigarh district court on October 5 to address the charges.
