Shehnaaz Gill Breaks Down Remembering Bigg Boss 13 Body Shaming and Trolling

Actress Shehnaaz Gill recently became emotional while revisiting her Bigg Boss 13 journey, candidly sharing the harsh body shaming and trolling she endured during and after the show.

In a recent conversation on the Male Feminist podcast, Shehnaaz revealed that she faced relentless criticism for her appearance and way of speaking. “I was very trolled on Bigg Boss because of my body. I was also trolled a lot for my language,” she said. People labelled her “anpadh gawaar” (uneducated and rustic) due to her Punjabi accent and casual manner of speaking. The body-shaming comments left a deep impact, with some even calling her names related to her weight inside the house.

After exiting the show, Shehnaaz decided to lose weight to prove she could transform herself. However, she has now reached a place of self-acceptance. “Sometimes when I put on weight, I feel very proud. If you have put on four or five kgs, that’s okay. If you are comfortable in your body and feel that you look good like this, it’s okay,” she shared.

She also questioned society’s rigid beauty standards. “I don’t know why we all have to have an hourglass figure. Everyone is different,” Shehnaaz remarked. She pointed out the double standards: when she loses weight, people say it doesn’t suit her; when she gains, they call her fat. “Excuse me, what does the world even want?” she asked, emphasising that health and personal comfort matter more than external opinions.

The Bigg Boss 13 stint, which made her a household name and introduced her as “Punjab ki Katrina Kaif,” remains a turning point. While it brought massive fame and a loyal fan base, it also exposed her to intense public scrutiny. Shehnaaz’s honest reflections highlight her growth from being deeply affected by trolling to embracing her authentic self.
