Anand: The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) announced on Wednesday that the price of Amul milk will rise by Rs 2 per litre across India. The revised prices will take effect from Thursday, May 1, 2025, and will apply to several milk variants.
According to the federation, the price hike follows a routine market review and represents a 3–4% increase in the maximum retail price, still lower than the current average rate of food inflation. This marks the first revision in Amul milk prices since June 2024.
GCMMF cited increased input costs as the main reason for the hike, stating that all its member unions have raised the prices paid to farmers over the past year. The federation highlighted that 80 percent of the retail price collected from consumers is returned to milk producers through its cooperative structure, aiming to support farmer incomes and encourage greater milk production.
Under the new pricing, a 500ml pouch of Amul Gold will cost Rs 34, while a 1-litre pack will be priced at Rs 67. The Shakti variant in 500ml packaging will now be available for Rs 31, and a 500ml pouch of Cow Milk will cost Rs 29. The price of a 1-litre pouch of Buffalo Milk will be Rs 73, while Amul Taaza in 1-litre packaging will be sold for Rs 55.
The announcement comes a day after Mother Dairy also raised its milk prices by Rs 2 per litre, citing the ongoing heatwave in the Delhi-NCR region as a contributing factor.
