Navy Warship Conducts Missile Test In Arabian Sea, INS Surat Hits Sea-Skimming Target

Mumbai: The Indian Navy’s latest indigenous guided missile destroyer, INS Surat, on Thursday successfully carried out a precision cooperative engagement of a sea-skimming target, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the Navy’s defence capabilities.

“IndianNavy’s latest indigenous guided missile destroyer #INSSurat successfully carried out a precision cooperative engagement of a sea skimming target, marking another milestone in strengthening our defence capabilities,” The Indian Navy wrote on X, while posting the video, showcasing its prowess under live operational conditions.

“This milestone is a testament to the Indian Navy’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests and its dedication to Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” the Navy added. Jointly developed with Israel, the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile boasts of an interception range of 70 kilometres.

Pakistan issued a no-fly zone in the Arabian Sea as it is preparing to test a new missile amid tensions with India following the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, claiming the lives of 26 tourists. The missile, which reportedly has a range of 480 kilometres, is expected to be tested either on Thursday or Friday
