Gujarat Government Cancels All Events In Mourning Following Pahalgam Terror Attack

Ahmedabad: In the wake of the tragic terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the Gujarat government has announced the cancellation of all its scheduled public and political events across the state as a mark of respect to the victims. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, and all cabinet ministers and MLAs have called off their planned engagements for the day. The BJP has also cancelled its party programs in Gujarat.

Harsh Sanghavi was scheduled to visit Patan on Wednesday to grant Indian citizenship to a group of Pakistani Hindu migrants, along with attending several other events. However, all his programs have been called off in light of the attack. During a cabinet meeting held earlier in the day, the ministers paid tribute to the victims and strongly condemned the attack. Notably, Morari Bapu, who had been conducting a Ramkatha titled Manas Srinagar around 100 km from the attack site, concluded the event on its fifth day. He paid homage to the victims and announced the early closure of the discourse as a gesture of mourning.

Meanwhile, the mortal remains of the three Gujarat-origin victims, one from Surat and two from Bhavnagar, are expected to arrive at Ahmedabad airport via air by this evening. Arrangements are in place to hand over the bodies to their respective families.
