Mumbai: Suburban train commuters in Mumbai are advised to plan their journeys carefully this weekend. The Free Press Journal reports that Central Railway has scheduled a comprehensive mega block on Sunday, June 28, to carry out mandatory engineering layout updates and infrastructure upkeep.
The maintenance window will heavily impact operations on both the Central and Trans-Harbour corridors, while Western Railway commuters will see adjustments during overnight hours.
Slow Line Adjustments Between Matunga and Mulund
Engineering work on the Central Line will focus on the Up and Down slow tracks. According to railway authorities, the maintenance window is set to run from 11:05 AM to 3:55 PM between Matunga and Mulund stations.
Passengers utilizing the slow lines during these hours should prepare for potential delays, route diversions, or temporary holding actions as teams execute necessary track adjustments.
Trans-Harbour Line Services Impacted
Simultaneously, the Trans-Harbour network will undergo infrastructure maintenance between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations. The Free Press Journal indicates that the block on the Up and Down Harbour lines will remain active from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM.
Commuters traveling through these key junctions are urged to account for extended travel times and verify schedules beforehand, as normal service patterns will face temporary interruptions.
Regular Operations on Harbour and Uran Lines
In contrast to the major corridors, the Harbour Line and the Uran Line will remain entirely unaffected by the daytime maintenance operations. Central Railway confirmed that services along these specific paths will continue running strictly according to their standard timetables, providing steady transit alternatives for affected regions.
Western Railway Outlines Overnight Schedule Shift
While Western Railway has opted out of a daytime Jumbo Block on Sunday, June 28, it has organized an overnight maintenance block to safely carry out track maintenance, signaling upgrades, and overhead equipment checks.
The Free Press Journal notes that the nighttime block will run from 11:30 PM on Saturday, June 27, until 4:30 AM on Sunday, June 28, covering the Up and Down fast lines between Borivali and Bhayandar. During this period, fast local trains traveling between Virar/Vasai Road and Borivali will be temporarily rerouted to run along the slow lines.
