Sunil Narine Shines as KKR Crush CSK by 8 Wickets at Chepauk

In a commanding performance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in Match 25 of the IPL 2025. Sunil Narine emerged as the star of the match, delivering a powerful all-round performance that guided KKR to a decisive win and third place on the points table.

After winning the toss, KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane chose to bowl first. The decision paid off, as CSK were restricted to a meager 103/9 in their 20 overs—marking their lowest-ever total at Chepauk. Seven Chennai batters failed to reach double figures, with Sunil Narine claiming three key wickets, including those of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rahul Tripathi, and Ravindra Jadeja. Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana contributed with two wickets each.

Narine’s brilliance continued with the bat as he smashed 44 runs off just 18 balls, setting the tone for KKR’s chase. His explosive innings ensured an easy win for the Kolkata side, dealing CSK their third consecutive home defeat—an unprecedented losing streak at their fortress in Chennai.

Both teams made key changes ahead of the clash. KKR included Moeen Ali in place of Spencer Johnson, while CSK brought in Anshul Kambhoj for Mukesh Choudhary and Rahul Tripathi filled in for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad.
