Mumbai Samachar has obtained exclusive photographs of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana being handed over to Indian authorities. The images show US Marshals escorting the 64-year-old in chains at what appears to be a military airbase in California before he was flown to India.

Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, landed in Delhi on Thursday following his extradition from the United States. Upon arrival at Palam airport, he was taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). A special court later granted the NIA an 18-day remand for further interrogation. Rana appeared in brown overalls, with white hair and a beard, as shown in airport visuals.
Rana, who once served in the Pakistani military and later migrated to Canada in the late 1990s, is accused of providing both financial and logistical assistance to David Coleman Headley — the Lashkar-e-Taiba operative who carried out reconnaissance missions for the 2008 Mumbai attacks over a span of two years. The coordinated strikes by ten LeT terrorists left 166 people dead.

He faces charges including criminal conspiracy, waging war against India, and violations under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
During his custodial interrogation, the NIA intends to question Rana on three key areas: his role in the planning of the attacks, his connections to Lashkar-e-Taiba, and any links between the attack and Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
The interrogation will be led by DIG Jaya Roy, who was instrumental in securing Rana’s extradition. A 12-member team is conducting the investigation.
Rana is currently housed in a high-security cell at the NIA headquarters, under constant CCTV surveillance. All necessary provisions, including meals, are being arranged within the facility. After the interrogation period ends, he is expected to be transferred to Tihar Jail in Delhi
