
Ahmedabad : In the first board meeting held at Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today, the names of the office bearers for the next two and a half years have been announced by opening the sealed cover. Hiteshbhai Barot, a corporator of Thaltej ward of the West Zone, has been declared the new mayor of Ahmedabad. Anjuben Shah from Sabarmati ward has been appointed as the deputy mayor.
While Kamlesh Patel, a corporator from Khokhra ward, has been elected as the chairman of the standing committee. Jashubhai Thakor from Shahibaug ward has been appointed as the leader of the ruling BJP party and Atul Mishra from Chandkheda ward has been appointed as the Dandak.
After being appointed as the new mayor of Ahmedabad, Hitesh Barot had a special conversation about the development of the city, the serious problem of traffic, preparations for the monsoon and future mega projects. He said, ‘Ahmedabad is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and making it more developed at the global level will be his main objective.’
Ahmedabad’s new mayor Hitesh Barot said, “My first priority will be to fulfill the basic needs of every citizen of Ahmedabad city. Our Ahmedabad is already a leader, but my team and I will continuously strive to make it the most developed and convenient city in the country.” Regarding the organization of the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, Mayor Hitesh Barot said, “It is a matter of great fortune for all of us that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel have organized global level games like the Olympics and that Ahmedabad has got the opportunity to host them.
Regarding the solution to the problem of traffic during peak hours and waterlogging during monsoon, Hitesh Barot said, ‘The traffic problem within Ahmedabad is due to the extraordinary increase in population and vehicles. Earlier, when a new scheme was being made, people used to go to see the house on scooters, but today the situation has changed. Today, Ahmedabad has become so economically viable and developed that every household has three to four vehicles.
