Mumbai: Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has issued a measured response following a non-cooperation directive issued against him by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) in connection with his withdrawal from the much-anticipated film Don 3.
The federation announced the decision on Monday after the actor reportedly failed to respond to multiple invitations to address the matter. The move stems from tensions with filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and producer Ritesh Sidhwani following Ranveer’s exit from the project.
According to Ranveer Singh’s official spokesperson, the actor maintains deep respect for the film fraternity and all those involved in the *Don* franchise. The statement emphasised that Singh deliberately chose not to engage publicly amid the controversy, preferring to handle professional matters with dignity, maturity, and mutual respect.
“Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” the spokesperson said.
The statement further noted that while various narratives and speculations have circulated, the actor saw no need to respond publicly or fuel conjecture. His focus remains on his upcoming work and commitments. Singh continues to wish the franchise success and will maintain his approach of restraint and grace.

The dispute traces back to April 11, when Farhan Akhtar formally complained to FWICE regarding Ranveer’s decision to leave Don 3 just weeks before the shooting schedule was set to begin, which allegedly caused significant disruption to the production.
At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association President Ashok Pandit outlined the sequence of events. He revealed that the federation had invited both sides to present their cases and sent multiple reminders every 10 to 15 days to Ranveer Singh to appear before the body, but received no response initially.
Pandit noted that three formal notices were issued. An email from the actor’s team questioning the federation’s jurisdiction arrived only after the press conference was announced.
FWICE President BN Tiwari highlighted the broader impact, stating that sudden project halts affect not just the lead cast and crew but also thousands of daily wage workers and junior artists who rely on such films for their livelihood.
The federation’s action underscores ongoing concerns within the industry about accountability and the welfare of film workers when high-profile projects face abrupt changes. Ranveer Singh was last seen in Dhurandhar.
