Dhurandhar Franchise: From a Surprise Hit to Bollywood’s Most Talked-About Possible Sequel

Both Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge did something few films manage they kept audiences talking long after the credits rolled. Now, months after the second film’s release, one question refuses to go away: is a third part coming? No official announcement has been made. But the hints, real and rumoured, have been enough to keep speculation alive.

The first film dropped audiences into the world of Hamza Ali Mazari, played by Ranveer Singh an undercover operative navigating Karachi’s criminal underworld. The sequel went darker, raised the stakes, and ended on a note that left several threads unresolved. That unfinished feeling is exactly what fans are holding onto.

Director Aditya Dhar reportedly told audiences not to leave before the credits finished rolling at a screening ahead of the second film’s release a move many read as a wink toward what might come next. Reports later surfaced claiming Dhar said he was “not done with Dhurandhar yet,” though no official statement has confirmed this.

Producer Jyoti Deshpande is also said to have hinted that the franchise still has “something special” in store. The comment, unverified but widely circulated, has only added fuel to the speculation.

Ranveer Singh himself has stayed silent on the matter. No confirmation, no denial. Fans, for their part, are not reading the silence as a no.

Not everyone shares the enthusiasm, however. Actor Rakesh Bedi has reportedly said he does not expect a third film to materialise, though he left the door slightly open by suggesting the Dhurandhar universe could continue in other forms. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra has been more direct — he has clarified that several viral posters and release-date leaks circulating online are fake, and that no official announcement exists.

So where does that leave Dhurandhar 3? Firmly in the realm of possibility, not confirmation. The makers have been careful not to say yes but they have not said no either. For now, that ambiguity is doing exactly what a good cliffhanger is supposed to do.
