IPL 2025: Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj Shine As Gujarat Titans Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad By 7 Wickets

Mohammed Siraj was the show-stopper in GT’s 7-wicket hammering of SRH at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday. Siraj breathed fire with the ball. He took a four-wicket haul (4 for 17) and helped GT restrict SRH to 152 for 8 in 20 overs after opting to bowl. R Sai Kishore (2 for 24) and Prasidh Krishna (2 for 25) also impressed, picking two wickets apiece.

Nitish Reddy was the top-scorer for SRH with 31 runs to his name. The innings belonged to Siraj, who struck in the first over and never stopped. SRH too started well with the ball in the second innings of the match. They reduced GT to 16 for 2 at one stage, but Washington Sundar’s sensational counter-attack (49 off 29) and Shubman Gill’s sublime knock (61 not out off 43) sealed the deal for the chasing team.

Zeeshan Ansari leaked 11 runs in his final over. He ended his quota of four overs with figures of 0 for 33. Gujarat Titans need 12 runs in 24 balls. Mere formality remains in this game. This means SRH are on the verge of their fourth consecutive defeat. That is a superb sweep shot from Shubman Gill for a four. Zeeshan Ansari bowled it fuller and Gill slammed it through the square leg for a four. Zeeshan followed it with a fuller delivery outside off stump and Gill brought out an inside-out shot this time for a four.

Mohammed Shami bowled a short ball outside off stump and Sundar hit it towards the sweeper cover where Aniket Verma took a terrific catch. There was a check for whether the ball touched the ground. And prima facie, it looked 50-50, but TV umpire gave it OUT, saying that the fingers are underneath the ball. Shubman Gill was also involved in a chat with umpires regarding that dismissal but the decision has already been given. Gujarat Titans need 47 runs in 41 balls.

It was turning out to be a good over from Jaydev Unadkat but a four from Washington Sundar on the last ball ruined it. It was a slower short ball and Sundar pulled it really well towards the square leg. Gujarat Titans need 55 runs in 48 balls. 14 runs have come off the last two overs. Zeeshan Ansari conceded 6 runs before Pat Cummins gave 8 runs in the following over. Both Sundar and Gill are in their fifies. Gujarat Titans need 63 runs in 54 balls. This is their match to lose from this point.
