‘Haan Main Tumhara Hoon… Tumhara Hi Rahoonga…’: Do You Remember Which Cricketer Sang This Superhit Song with Asha Bhosle?

Mumbai: Legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who mesmerized millions of music lovers with her melodious voice for decades, recently passed away, prompting tributes from across the world. Among those paying homage was former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee. Many may have been surprised to learn about a cricketer—especially an Australian—having a connection with Bollywood.

To recall, back in 2006 (20 years ago), Asha Bhosle had sung a song with Brett Lee. Lee had written the track “You Are The One For Me…”, which also featured Hindi lines like “Haan main tumhara hoon… tumhara hi rahoonga…” sung in his own voice. The duet became quite popular at the time.

This collaboration took place during the ICC Champions Trophy 2006. Brett Lee’s band Six & Out was behind the creation of the song. The song revolved around a young man from the West.

In the video, Brett Lee is seen trying to impress an Indian girl, while Asha Bhosle plays the role of his advisor. She guides him—in Hindi—on how to win her over. Brett Lee, who is also a skilled guitarist, performed the song using his guitar, blending both English and Hindi lyrics.

Asha Bhosle was also a great admirer of Sachin Tendulkar’s cricketing performances and often referred to him as “the greatest artist in cricket.”
