Donald Trump Reacts To Robert Mueller Death, Sparks Controversy

Washington: Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who led the high-profile investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election, has died at the age of 81, according to family statements and media reports cited by The Times of India. 

Mueller, a central figure in American law enforcement, had overseen the special counsel probe that examined possible links between Russia and the campaign of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump. The investigation became a defining political episode, drawing widespread attention and debate across the United States. 

Following the news of Mueller’s death, Trump made a controversial statement on his social media platform, Truth Social. Reacting to the development, he expressed satisfaction over Mueller’s passing, reflecting the long-standing hostility between the two figures. 

Their strained relationship dates back to the Russia investigation, which Trump had repeatedly criticised, often describing it as politically motivated. The probe, which lasted nearly two years, examined allegations of election interference and scrutinised individuals linked to Trump’s campaign. 

Mueller, a decorated Vietnam War veteran and seasoned public servant, had previously served as FBI director and later returned to lead the special counsel investigation. His work resulted in multiple indictments, though it did not establish a criminal conspiracy between Trump’s campaign and Russia.
