Netanyahu Mocks Death Rumours In Cafe Video Online Today

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directly countered circulating rumours of his death or injury by releasing a casual video of himself enjoying a cup of coffee at a Jerusalem-area cafe.
The footage, shared on Mr. Netanyahu’s Telegram account on Sunday (March 15, 2026), shows the prime minister seated at the cafe on the outskirts of Jerusalem. In the clip, an aide asks him about the persistent claims, which originated from Iranian state media and quickly spread across social platforms in Iran.
Responding with a playful pun on the Hebrew slang for “dead” — often used to express strong enthusiasm — Mr. Netanyahu reaches for his coffee and replies: “I’m crazy about coffee. You know what? I’m crazy about my people.”
The video was independently verified by Reuters. Its location was confirmed by matching the cafe’s interior with existing file imagery, while the timing was corroborated through multiple videos and photographs posted by the cafe itself on the same day.
The rumours emerged amid ongoing tensions following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran that began on February 28. Since then, Mr. Netanyahu has made several public visits to sites affected by Iranian missile attacks, including towns, a hospital, a port, and military bases. However, media access to these appearances has been limited, with footage primarily distributed through his office.

Mr. Netanyahu has rarely addressed the Israeli press directly during the current conflict. His most recent press conference, held via video link on Thursday, followed a similar format to one he used during Israel’s earlier 12-day confrontation with Iran in June.
Strict emergency safety measures remain in place across Israel since the outbreak of hostilities, restricting public gatherings and keeping most residents near shelters or safe rooms, with schools closed in much of the country.
The light-hearted video appears designed to reassure the public and dismiss speculation fuelled by Iranian sources, while underscoring Mr. Netanyahu’s continued engagement with everyday Israeli life even under wartime conditions.
