A video of Zakir Khan lying in a hospital bed has left fans worried. His younger brother Arbaz Khan posted the clip as part of a Ramzan vlog casually turning the camera toward Zakir, who is in a hospital gown at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, watching the India vs England T20 Cricket World Cup match. The two of them, together, in a hospital room, watching cricket. Very them.
The comment sections didn’t stay quiet for long. “Get well soon,” wrote one fan. Another went directly at Arbaz: “Hey @arbazkhan0513, everyone is asking about Zakir bhai. Pls tell us how he is, what happened to him. All of us love him so much and worry about him.” A third just kept it simple “Get well soon, Zakir.”
He’d Already Warned Everyone
This didn’t blindside people who’d been paying attention. Earlier this year, Zakir told an audience in Hyderabad that he was stepping away from work possibly for five years to deal with his health. The room went quiet. So did the internet, briefly.
He later explained it in a Gulf News interview, and he was blunt about it. “I need to take care of my health. There are certain genetic illnesses in my family that tend to surface after a particular age. On top of that, I’ve damaged my body myself, sleeping for just two hours and then going on to meet thousands of people. Because the moment you land in a city, you immediately start meeting people.”

Zakir Khan spotted in hospital gown at Lilavati, Mumbai. Brother Arbaz shares Ramzan vlog clip. Fans flood comments asking what happened to the comedian.
He also talked about what a decade of being first the first in his family to do any of this actually takes out of you. “When you are the first in your family to do something, you have to build a lot of bridges so that the people who will come after don’t have to suffer the same things you did. And that’s what I’ve done for 10 years. As a result, in every city you have to have a little family, those who will come to your events, show you around, tell you about the place… make you feel ‘at home’.”
It’s the kind of thing that sounds like a life philosophy until you realise he’s describing exhaustion.
Who Is Zakir Khan
He won Comedy Central’s India’s Best Standup in 2012 and built one of the most loyal fanbases in Indian comedy from there. Five specials on Amazon Prime Video followed — Haq Se Single (2017), Kaksha Gyarvi (2018), Tathastu (2022), Mannpasand (2023), and Delulu Express (2025). He wrote and starred in Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare, mentored on The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 5 alongside Mallika Dua and Hussain Dalal, and judged Comicstaan Seasons 2 and 3. His show Farzi Mushaira runs on Amazon mini TV. His podcast Ummeed, on Gaana, is where he shares personal stories with fellow comedians.
In August 2025, he became the first Indian artist to perform an entirely Hindi-language show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Then, apparently, his body said enough.
