Explosions Rock Central Dubai As Iran Targets Gulf Financial Hub

Abu Dhabi: Explosions were reported in central Dubai as tensions in the Middle East intensified, with Iran continuing its campaign of strikes across the Gulf region. According to The Economic Times, the blasts occurred near areas that host major financial institutions and business centres, raising concerns about the safety of one of the region’s most important economic hubs.

Reports indicated that a drone fell close to Dubai’s financial district shortly after Iran warned that it could target economic and financial infrastructure linked to the United States and its allies. The incident prompted several companies in the area to evacuate offices or shift employees to remote work as a precautionary measure.

Witnesses reported hearing loud blasts and seeing smoke rising over parts of downtown Dubai, an area known for housing major landmarks and commercial establishments. According to reports cited by AFP, buildings shook following the explosions and emergency services responded to the situation.

The developments come amid a broader conflict that began after military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets in late February. Since then, Iran has launched a series of missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region, including targets in the United Arab Emirates, in what analysts say is an attempt to pressure its adversaries economically and militarily.

Dubai, which serves as a global financial and commercial centre, has taken precautionary steps in response to the escalating threats. Financial institutions and multinational companies operating in the city have increased security measures and reviewed contingency plans to ensure the safety of employees and infrastructure.

While authorities reported limited damage in some incidents and no immediate reports of casualties, the explosions have underscored the growing risks facing Gulf economic hubs as the regional conflict continues to expand.
