Viral ‘Mahakumbh’ Girl Monalisa Marries Boyfriend Farman Khan

Monalisa Bhosle, the 18-year-old who captured national attention as the “Kumbh Mela girl,” married Farman Khan on March 11 at the Arumanoor Sri Nainaar Deva Temple in Poovar, near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The couple, both aspiring actors, first connected on Facebook about six months ago. Monalisa hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, while Farman comes from Maharashtra.
Bhosle’s rise to fame began during the 2025 Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where a video of her selling rudraksha beads and garlands went viral. Her striking amber eyes, bright smile, and engaging presence earned her the nickname “Mona Lisa” across social media platforms.
The wedding followed a tense situation earlier that day. Monalisa’s father, Jai Singh Bhosle, had opposed the relationship due to religious differences and reportedly attempted to pressure her into marrying a distant relative. While Monalisa was in Kerala shooting her debut Malayalam film Nagamma directed by P. Binu Varghese, her father tracked her down and tried to take her back home against her will.
Seeking safety, the couple approached the Thampanoor Police Station in Thiruvananthapuram. Monalisa lodged a complaint, and officers informed her family that, as an adult at 18, she had the legal right to choose her partner and living arrangements. After receiving assurances, the pair left the station and proceeded directly to the temple for the ceremony.

The event drew support from several prominent Kerala figures, including Education Minister V. Sivankutty, who called it “the real Kerala story,” CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan, and MP AA Rahim, who attended to extend their backing.
In keeping with Hindu traditions, Monalisa wore a vibrant red saree adorned with sindoor, while Farman opted for a traditional white shirt and mundu.
Beyond this personal milestone, Monalisa continues her acting journey. She is preparing for her Bollywood debut in Sanoj Mishra’s upcoming film The Diary of Manipur and remains active on Instagram, engaging with fans and collaborating with brands.
The marriage highlights the couple’s determination to pursue their relationship amid challenges, with local authorities ensuring their safety throughout the day.
