Maharashtra Student Drowns At Chennai’s Golden Beach, Another Missing; CM Fadnavis Expresses Condolences

Mumbai: A fun trip to Chennai turned tragic for a group of Maharashtra students when three of them ventured into the sea at Golden Beach and met with a devastating accident one student lost her life, another went missing, and only the third was rescued safely.
According to a post shared by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on his social media account, a group of students from Maharashtra had travelled to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, for a leisure trip. On Saturday, 26 students from the group visited Golden Beach in Chennai. However, only three of them entered the water. Mayuri Chaudhary, a student from Bhandara district, lost her life after drowning. Jay Patil remained untraceable until late Saturday evening, with search and rescue operations launched on a war footing to locate him. The third student, Raj Kedari, was pulled out of the water safely.
As soon as the Maharashtra government was informed of the incident, it directed the Tamil Nadu government to expedite the search and rescue operation. The families of both Mayuri Chaudhary and Jay Patil rushed to Chennai upon learning of the tragedy.
Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed deep grief over the incident and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also stated that the Maharashtra government is in constant contact with the affected families to extend all possible assistance.
