Brother Recalls Chilling Call Before Killing, Pregnant Delhi Police SWAT Commando Killed By Husband With Dumbbell

New Delhi : A chilling phone call minutes before her death has become a key detail in the murder of Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal. Recalling the ill-fated night of January 22, Kajal’s brother Nikhil said he received a call from his brother-in-law Ankur, a clerk in the Ministry of Defence and posted in Delhi Cantonment, who threatened him to kill his sister. He called me and said, ‘Is call ko recording pe rakh, police evidence me kaam aayega.

Main maar raha hoon teri behen ko. Police mera kuch nahi kar payegi’ (Put this call on recording, it will help police in evidence. I am killing your sister. Police won’t be able to do anything), Nikhil said. About five minutes later, another call came. This time, I heard Kajal screaming in the background. Ankur then said, ‘Wo mar gayi hai. Hospital aajao’ (She is dead. Come to the hospital),” Nikhil, a constable posted at Parliament Street Police Station, said.

Delhi Police said the 27-year-old commando, attached to the Special Cell’s SWAT team, was brutally assaulted during a domestic dispute around 10 pm on January 22. Officials said that Ankur smashed Kajal’s head against a door frame and then struck her with a dumbbell. After the assault, Kajal was first admitted to Tarak Hospital in Mohan Garden and later shifted to a private hospital in Ghaziabad. She succumbed to her injuries on January 27.

“When we reached the hospital with the police, my daughter was admitted and he had already taken away all her jewellery. He used to threaten that the police couldn’t touch him,” Kajal’s mother said. She alleged that despite expensive wedding gifts, including a Bullet motorcycle worth lakhs, Ankur kept demanding more. “He wanted a car. My daughter bought him one with her own money.
