Patna : Some unidentified men threw stones, cow dung and slippers at Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha’s convoy in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district on polling day. Sinha, a three-time MLA who is contesting the Bihar Assembly elections from the Lakhisarai seat, claimed the assault was carried out by RJD supporters attempting to block his visit to Khoriari village.
Several people can be heard chanting ‘murdabad’ slogans and stopping the BJP leader’s convoy from entering the village. These are RJD’s goons. They know the NDA is returning to power, that’s why they have resorted to hooliganism. They turned away my polling agent and didn’t let him vote. Sinha also demanded the deployment of central forces, calling the district police cowardly and weak, and announced plans to sit on a protest in the same village.
Responding to the incident, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that no one would be allowed to break the law and order and directed Bihar DGP to take strict action the miscreants. Earlier in the day, Sinha visited the Jagdamba Temple to offer prayers before casting his vote in the first phase of the Bihar elections, where the main contest is between the NDA and the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan.
