Mumbai: Woman dies after coming under BEST bus rear tyre near Malabar Hill

Mumbai : A woman pedestrian died after a Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport bus collided with a car in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill area on Tuesday morning. A tragic road accident occurred outside the Sahyadri state Guest house. The victim is identified as Neeta Shah, according to the sources.

The accident occurred when the resident aged 75 was on her way back to home after her yoga class, was crushed between the bus and the parked car at the time of the accident. According to the offivial, she was caught between the bus and the parked car, sustaining severe head injuries. She died on the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed that the electric bus, operating on Route 105 from Vijay Vallabh Chowk to Kamala Nehru Park, was approaching the spot when the driver reportedly heard a sudden noise, upon inspection, he discovered that a pedestrian had come in contact with the left rear tyre of the bus, and the collision had also damaged the car which was parked on the roadside.

The police personnel present at the scene had rushed the victim to the hospital where she was declared as dead upon arrival by the doctors. The Mumbai Police have registered a case and initiated a probe into the circumstances of the accident. BEST accident officers and inquiry inspectors are assisting in the investigation.

The victim’s friend builder Niranjan Hiranandani demands BMC Action after her death. Builder Niranjan Hiranandani has urged the BMC to remove all encroachments from the pavement. He said that because pavements are encroached, citizens are forced to walk on roads, risking their lives.
