
Ahmedabad : With the onset of the holy month of Shravan, a fresh spell of rainfall has begun in Gujarat. On Sunday, July 27, heavy rains lashed several areas in Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Dahod, and Ahmedabad districts. Heavy rains were also recorded in Dahod city and its surrounding areas.
Villages such as Raliyati, Punsari, Jalat, Rampura, Chhapri, Galaliyavad, and Rabdal in Dahod district were waterlogged. Other areas like Limkheda, Dudhiya, Palli, Ghumani, and Singapore (a village) also received good rainfall. In Ahmedabad, torrential rain began late at night. Areas such as Prahladnagar, Anandnagar, SG Highway, Shivranjani, Thaltej, Shela, Bopal, Isanpur, CTM, and Ghodasar experienced continuous rainfall.
A total of 181 talukas across Gujarat received rainfall, with the highest recorded in Vadgam taluka of Banaskantha district, where a whopping 7.52 inches of rain fell. Additionally, 72 talukas saw more than an inch of rainfall. Ahmedabad witnessed a downpour late on Saturday night. Areas such as Prahladnagar, Anandnagar, S G Highway, Shivranjani, Thaltej, Shela, Bopal, Isanpur, CTM, and Ghodasar received significant rainfall. Meanwhile, a red alert for heavy rain was issued in six districts.
A red alert has been issued for Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, and Kheda districts from 7 am to 10 am on Sunday. A yellow alert has been issued for Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Amreli, Botad, and Bhavnagar, while an orange alert has been issued for other districts, including Ahmedabad.
An orange alert has been issued for Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts on July 28. Additionally, a Yellow Alert has been issued for 21 other districts, including Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Surendranagar, Kheda, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Navsari, Valsad, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Rajkot, and Botad, where heavy rainfall is expected.
