BTS’ Suga Nears Military Discharge, Agency Urges Fans to Celebrate Remotely

Seoul, June 18, 2025 – BigHit Music, the agency representing global K-pop sensation BTS, has announced that member Suga is nearing the completion of his mandatory military service. The rapper, serving as a social service worker due to a prior shoulder injury, is set to be discharged on June 21, 2025, marking the final step in the group’s journey to reunite after all members fulfill their military obligations.
In an official statement released on June 18, BigHit Music expressed excitement about Suga’s impending return but emphasized that no public events will take place on his discharge day. The agency cited safety concerns, noting that overcrowding at the undisclosed Seoul location where Suga has been serving could pose risks. “We sincerely request our fans not to visit the sites in person,” the statement read. Instead, the agency encouraged fans to share their support and warm wishes for Suga remotely.
Suga, also known as Min Yoongi, began his military service in September 2023, following a three-week basic training program. Unlike his bandmates, who served as active-duty soldiers, Suga’s role as a social service worker required a 21-month commitment, three months longer than standard military service, due to his health condition. The other BTS members Jin, J-Hope, RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook have already completed their service, with RM and V discharged on June 10, and Jimin and Jungkook on June 11, 2025.

The fans are eagerly awaiting the group’s next chapter, with no official announcements yet regarding specific reunion plans or events.
