Maharashtra Newlywed Arrested for Husband’s Murder Amid Marriage Dispute

In a shocking incident in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, a newlywed woman has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband after a dispute over consummating their marriage, police reported. This case emerges alongside ongoing developments in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, highlighting a disturbing trend of spousal violence.

The incident occurred in Kupwad tehsil, where the woman fatally attacked her 53-year-old husband, Anil Lokhande, around 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday. According to a police official, the couple, married for just 15 days, had a heated argument when Lokhande insisted on consummating their marriage. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly used a sharp weapon to kill him.

This was Lokhande’s second marriage, as his first wife had died of cancer, the official noted.

Authorities have detained the woman under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation is underway to uncover further details. The case draws parallels to the high-profile Meghalaya honeymoon murder, where Sonam Raghuvanshi and four others were arrested in connection with the killing of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon last month, as reported by police.
