
New Delhi : India’s active Corona case tally has crossed the 5,000 mark and Kerala remains the most affected state. Whereas Gujarat, West Bengal and Delhi remain second, third and fourth accordingly in the tally. The Union Health Ministry released data on Friday. Mock drills are being conducted by the center to check preparedness for Covid.
Following rising cases of Covid Centre has given instruction to all the states to to ensure availability of oxygen, isolation beds, ventilators, and essential medicines. During last 24 hours, 5,364 active cases have been reported across the country. While four people succumbed to Covid. Official sources have maintained that most cases are mild and managed under home care. Since January this year, 55 deaths have been reported in the country. There were a total of 257 active patients in the country on May 22.
Technical review meetings were held on June 2 and 3 under chairpersonship of Dr Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services (DGHS) with representatives of Disaster Management Cell, Emergency Management Response (EMR) Cell, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and Central Government Hospitals in Delhi and with representatives from all states and UTs to evaluate current Covid-19 situation and preparedness measures.
According to official sources on June 4 said that State and District surveillance units under IDSP are closely monitoring Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI). Maharashtra reported 114 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total to 1,276 cases since January, along with one more death, raising the toll to 18. Pune (44 cases) and Mumbai (37 cases) reported the highest numbers, followed by Mira Bhayandar and Panvel with seven cases each.
Haryana reported 31 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, with Gurugram (9) and Faridabad (11) accounting for the majority. Other cases were reported from Karnal, Jhajjar, Panipat, Yamunanagar, Hisar and Panchkula. The state currently has 87 active cases and a total of 151 cumulative cases.
