Young Man Dies in Tragic Accident at Mumbai Central Station

MUMBAI: A 27-year-old man lost his life in a tragic incident at Mumbai Central railway station on Thursday morning after his neck became caught in an iron fence while attempting to exit a local train from the wrong side, officials reported. The accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. on Platform No. 4, part of the Western Railway network.

According to a railway police official, the man, identified as Dhila Rajesh Hamira Bhai via his Aadhaar card, was trying to disembark from a Virar-bound fast local train on the side facing the tracks, where iron fencing separates the railway lines. During the attempt, his neck became entangled in the fence, resulting in severe injuries. Eyewitnesses noted that he was found hanging from the fence with visible bleeding wounds.

Emergency services were promptly notified and arrived at the scene by 10:14 a.m. The man was rushed to Nair Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, the official stated. A postmortem is underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Railway authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led the passenger to exit from the non-platform side, despite warnings against such actions due to their inherent dangers.
