Security Tightened In Kutch Ahead of PM Modi’s Expected Visit; ‘No Drone Zone’ Announced

Bhuj: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Gujarat on May 26 and 27, including a possible stop in Bhuj, authorities in Kutch have ramped up security measures. A strict temporary ban on drones or any aerial devices has been put in place to ensure safety and public order during the high-profile visit.
Effective from May 23 to May 26, the entire area under the jurisdiction of the West Kutch Police has been declared a ‘No Drone Zone’ by District Magistrate Anand Patel. The directive, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, aims to prevent unauthorized drone activity in sensitive zones during the PM’s visit.
The restriction applies to all forms of remotely operated and manned light aircraft, including drones, quadcopters, powered aircraft, microlight planes, hang gliders, paragliders, para motors, para jumping equipment, and hot air balloons.
Officials have warned that anyone found violating the ban will face legal consequences under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023. The order underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining law, order, and airspace security during the Prime Minister’s potential visit. The decision reflects growing concerns about the misuse of aerial technology during major public events and comes as part of a broader set of security protocols being rolled out across the region.
