
Ahmedabad: As escalation between India and Pakistan has been increasing, high alert has been sounded in Jamnagar. Four days ago, high alert had been declared in Kutch as it is neaby district from India and Pakistan border. Bhuj has been observing black out since last two days. Today Bhuj’s various shopping has been closed.
Collector Ketan Thakkar said, ‘There will be a blackout in Jamnagar district from 8 pm on Saturday (May 10) to 6 am on Sunday (May 11). During this time, all people in the entire district have been appealed to keep electrical appliances completely switched off and not to use appliances like generators/inverters in all buildings including residential areas and industrial units.’
Siren was sounded in Jamnagar Town Hall area at 2.15 pm. People in the city have been advised by the administration to move to a safe place when the siren sounds. In addition, citizens are advised to take shelter in public places and not to roam around. The administration is ready to deal with any situation.
Following the attempted air strikes by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan earlier in the day, a blackout was imposed in most parts of Kutch district in Gujarat late on Thursday evening, senior officials confirmed.
Officials of the Gujarat government said, on condition of anonymity, that a blackout has been effected in a phased manner in the border district of Kutch since the air strikes from Pakistan were reported in Jaisalmer and other parts of Rajasthan.
A high-ranking official said, “The blackout was first imposed in Naliya, followed by Nakhtarana and Bhuj. Many other parts of the district close to the Pakistan border have also been blacked out in a phased manner on Thursday evening after the air strikes began. Residents have been advised to stay indoors and not use any illumination.”
