Who Will Be CM Of Bihar, JDU’s Post Sparks Controversy Now Deleted

Patna : A now-deleted post on X by JD(U) declaring Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister of Bihar has sparked buzz over the socialist leader’s future following the NDA’s decisive victory in the assembly elections. Unprecedented and unmatched. Nitish Kumar was, is, and will remain the Chief Minister of Bihar, the JD(U) tweeted on Friday. However, minutes later, it deleted the post, triggering fervent speculation on social media.

This came even as posters and billboards announcing “25 se 30, phir se Nitish” were spotted across Patna on Friday. Behind the speculation is the BJP’s strong show in the elections, with the saffron party emerging as the single largest party. Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), written off by many, also put up a strong performance, but the number of seats could not match that of the BJP’s. It has fuelled the buzz that the BJP may be looking at installing one of its leaders at the helm, just like it did in Maharashtra.

While the BJP went to the elections with Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde as the chief minister, the top post eventually went to Devendra Fadnavis following the saffron party’s dominant show. Bihar, there have been murmurs of Samrat Chaudhary, the deputy Chief Minister, as a strong contender for the top post. This time, however, the BJP negotiated equal seat-sharing, with both sides contesting 101 seats each. It was seen as the BJP’s bid to assert its authority.

The BJP cannot afford to ignore the fact that Nitish, who has been the chief minister for almost 20 years, has proved that he is still a force to reckon with. His wide appeal among women and EBC voters is believed to have fuelled the landslide win for the NDA.
