White House After Donald Trump Snubbed For Nobel 2025

New York : The Nobel Prize committee’s decision to award the peace prize to a Venezuelan opposition leader instead of US President Donald Trump did not sit right with the White House as it criticised the decision on Friday. The Oval Office said that the Nobel Committee placed politics over peace by awarding the coveted prize to Machado.
Machado, also known as Venezuela’s Iron Lady for her work in promoting democratic rights, found her name in Time Magazine’s The 100 Most Influential People of 2025 list. President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will,” Steven Cheung, White House spokesperson, wrote on X.
The White House Communication chief’s statement came hours after Trump, ahead of the announcement of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, lashed out at his predecessor Barack Obama, claiming he received the award for “doing nothing” and for “destroying our country.” Trump further said that Obama was “not a good president.”
White House spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a post on X, “President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will.” “The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.” Trump and others such as Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and Trump administration officials have aggressively campaigned for the Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to the US President.
While Donald Trump has never explicitly demanded the honour, he has often cited the “wars he stopped” whenever he was questioned about the Nobel Peace Prize. Calls for Donald Trump to receive a Nobel Peace Prize had grown louder recently after Israel and Hamas held talks to pause the war — following US-brokered mediation. The Gaza peace deal came two years after the Hamas fighters crossed Gaza on October 7, 2023, and killed nearly 1,200 people in Israel, and took over 250 people as hostage.
